Community Hospice volunteers in action

Our volunteers are an indispensible part of the Community Hospice family, often fielding questions patients and family are afraid to ask the doctor or nurse. They then relay this information to the right professional. (However, don’t hesitate to talk to our med staff!) Volunteers are ordinary people in the community doing extraordinary work, meeting some unforgettable people along the way. If you have a big heart, volunteering for the dying is for you.

• Keeping our clients company: Talking, listening, and reading aloud.
• Practical home help: Cooking meals, and running errands.
• Administrative/clerical/office work: Answering phones and email, copying, filing.
• Professional assistance: From doctors, other healthcare professionals, and clergy, among others.
